It’s been some time before the last update, and I was very busy with different projects. So, here is 1.7.8, and this will be the last release in 1.7 branch (if no critical bugs are found), and next release will be 1.8.0 just before the end of this year.
Most changes are done in the rendering, I have fixed several bugs with multi ratings and few other things, and also I have added number of tags for some of the templates. Read me and info files are updated, and plugin no longer supports PHP4, so PHP5 is REQUIRED now for the plugin to work.
But, this week new Dev4Press website is going live, and this new website will offer premium support subscription and more premium content for GD Star Rating. Plugin, as always, remains free, and premium support is optional. Because of that, for now, premium support offered so far on this website will be closed, and changes in that program will be again active from february 2010. More about this will be available in the next few days. Also, I plan to offer number of discount promo codes for this new premium support so stay tuned.

Havin some issues sorting categorized posts by rating (as in its not working). And ideas? basically I have the link /?cat=7/?gdsr_sort=votes&gdsr_order=desc” (or asc) yet the top result is always a post with 0 ratings.
Also, is there a way to make default 5 stars instead of 10. Thanks alot, love your work

First, your request part is not formed right, you have two ? and that can’t be done with URL.
As for the stars, you have options for each type of rating to set number of stars.

Let me rephrase.
From reading:
http://www.gdstarrating.com/2009/07/03/how-to-reorder-posts/
it was my understanding that if you have categorys set up, ie “tutorials” then you can sort everything filed “tutorials” by adding a link on your site such as “Sort By Highest Ranked” with
http://www.gdstarrating.com/category/tutorials/?gdsr_sort=votes&gdsr_order=asc
as the url ?

That is true, but the code you provided in previous comment was incorrect.

can you help provide the correct code? category i want to rank is simply /?cat=7 8 9 10 11 etc
ie http://www.blah.com/?cat=7/?????

Thanks for taking the time to create this update, good to see that, despite how busy you are, you have not forgotten your free projects.
Good, also, to see that you are encouraging people to upgrade to PHP5 – it would be good for all of us if the WordPress project had a faster roadmap to requiring it.
Keep up the good work!

Thanks. I am also disappointed that WordPress team decided to keep PHP4 support for WP2.9 and as I can see for WP3.0 next year.

Hello Milan:
I Installed the plugin GD Star Rating 1.7.8 in WordPress 2.86. I used hosting free in 000webhost.com.
I have a problem: when I qualify an article, the rating is not updated and remains the image of load (please wait …).
If I enable the option ” To activate support for plugins of I broke and dynamic load of information. ” The stars are not loaded in the articles.
The carpetas and files have permissions 755.
If I update the page, the votes get up-to-date well. Apparently the AJAX does not answer well.
How to correct the problem?
You can see my blog in:

Thank you for your collaboration.

Hi, Millan.
Sorry, I do not speak the English. I use a translator online because I speak the Spanish.
My problem is:
If you qualify some article of my blog in http://tecedo.com.ar, you will be able to see the problem in AJAX’s response after voting.
(To try updating the page.)
How can I solve the problem?
Thank you

This is a AJAX error with jQuery. Try activating plugin support for cross domain ajax requests.

is there a way to get notified via email when someone rates or gives thumbs up to a post ?

Even if something is not directly implemented, it still can be done. There are many, many actions and filters all over the plugin that can be used to expand plugin functionality. And sending emails after voting can be implemented using that, and adding mailing function to plugins filter or action.

Hi, you made a great plugin and its working awesomely.
For the multi rating set, how can i display the rates of every user under comments section?
if i use wp_gdsr_comment_integrate_multi_result(get_comment_ID(), 4, 0, “crystal”, 16);
it renders only the result of post rating and repeating it but not show the actual comment author ratings.

Hi, since 1.7.x the IP ban mode does not work, banning probably does not work any longer. Is there any bug known about?
Thanks!

First of all: What a great Plugin!
After updating to WordPress 2.9 (german edition) I geht the following errors when trying to call the articles in wordpress::
Warning: in_array() [function.in-array]: Wrong datatype for second argument in [...]wp-content/plugins/gd-star-rating/code/t2/render.php on line 635
Warning: in_array() [function.in-array]: Wrong datatype for second argument in [...]wp-content/plugins/gd-star-rating/code/t2/render.php on line 640

Warning: in_array() [function.in-array]: Wrong datatype for second argument in [...]wp-content/plugins/gd-star-rating/code/t2/render.php on line 649
([...] added by myself)
I used the automatic update function in wordpress.
Any ideas what the reason could be?
Thanks in advance for your help,
Stefan.

Most likely is that there is something wrong with the settings. I have updated all my blogs, and they all use GDSR, and all working. When upgrading, always check the settings, that’s part of the plugin FAQ.

There are all stars are replaced with the link to your website and wording ‘gd star rating’ on every page that is cached by google. How can I turn off this kind of hidden promotion?

That was part of 1.7.1 by mistake, and removed soon after. So, it’s no longer part of the main code base for the last 2 months.

Hm… confused. Looks like the error is still in the 1.7 branch.
Look into this please. The google snapshot on December 18 (http://209.85.129.132/search?q=cache:tMy2FKKoES4J:www.kinodom.com.ua/+site:kinodom.com.ua&cd=1&hl=ru&ct=clnk)
Even then I had 1.7.8 version installed. The page is not outdated in the cache so it’s not my fault or google’s lies.
Could you please consider the way to remove that from the code or perhaps help the community to find the proper lines in the code to play with.
Thanks!

I will check this again, maybe there is some more older code that is responsible for this. I will also add option that will allow you to set what reponse will be displayed to search engines instead of actual ratings.

Nothing in terms of settings, saving them, admin panels has beed changed since 1.6.8. And if you are using PHP 5.2 and settings are not saving, than there is an error behind it. Give me the error and I will track the bug.
Since I can’t reproduce the problem there is no way for me to see what’s causing it.
