Previous version of GD Star Rating, 1.7.0 was released a week ago, and unfortunately there where few bugs in it. Most of the users were not affected, but if you were using multi reviews and partially ratings and multi caching, there were number of problems.
Hopefully, all multi related bugs are now fixed. There were few problems with cache plugins support and rendering, loading of javascript for post edit page and few more things. All that is also fixed, and I have fixed few more notices and warnings found in the last few weeks.
After 1.7.0, next task was another wave of optimizations that were much deeper then it was done previously. Plugin now has a new main loader that will load only files needed. Plugin will load different files for administration back end and for blog front end. Database classes are also split into smaller files and loaded only when needed. Main plugin class is divided into several elements. Because all these optimizations plugin now uses 20% less memory used in the front end, and 30% less memory in the back end.
I have started also redesign of some plugins panels for improved usability, and to include more info that is needed since the addition of thumbs ratings. Articles panel is changed, and widget on post edit page. Settings panel is also changed a bit. Comment integration is improved, and now you can set integration parameters not only on category base, but on the single post/page base. Also, this is the first version that features very basic implementation for Google Rich Snippets. More info on this, and actual settings will be available in the next two releases.
Please, if you find any problem, new bug or regression from previous versions, please report it to issue tracker.

I got exactly the same error right after the update. I checked all files and folders permissions to no avail. GD Star Rating had been working just fine for months before. Like others mention: no way to save new settings. I performed databse maintenance (using options panel: cleanup etc…). The only “working” solution I found so far is to disable the plug-in

I am not sure how can you see that at all, because it is set to be hidden. This is microformat block that Google uses for rating Rich Snippet. 1.7.2 will have some imrpovements for this.
And right now your blog has no rating plugin active

I love it too, but Lord almighty – updates EVERY week and new bugs every week that need to be updated.
I just had to delete the whole thing because it was bogging down my site.
Please fix the bugs. This is a great plug-in, but perhaps it needs to be dumbed down a bit so that it performs the basic functions that we all love.

Hello Millan. This is an amazing plugin. Thank you for it. I don’t know how to setup this plugin to:
- allow multisets vote for users – comment and inside comment possibility for users to vote. Every comment to have possibility of voting (multisets).
For example:
Visitor 1 – comment – multisets rating.
Visitor 2 – comment – multisets rating.
Visitor 3 – comment – multisets rating…
- another problem is I cannot configure this plugin to appear in Category and post in the same time. For example I have a category with one post inside. I want to put a multiset vote system in category and in post. Categories have exactly the same text like posts (1 category with 1 post inside). I want possibility to have the same vote in category / post in the same time… When visotor vote in category – the result to appear in post and in category too.
Thank you a lot !

Rating is post/page based, not category based. But if you want to add multi rating block into the post on the category archive page, you need to use function for that.
Also, multi ratings can’t be part of comments, they are only for posts and pages. You can integrate it in the comments form and attach it to comment.

Hi,
Thanks for the plugin, I’ve yet to find a better one for star ratings.
Since upgrading to 1.7.1 I seem to have lost the ability to sort by review.
Appending
?gdsr_sort=review
to URLs does not work, I get ‘Sorry, no posts matched your criteria.’
The same happens when I use the WP_Query object:
query_posts (‘gdsr_sort=review’);
Both worked fine on previous versions of the plugin. I get the same result on my locally hosted development site and the live one.
Any ideas? I’ve been searching all day before posting and can’t find anything!

This is a new problem. I have making changes to this for improved sorting, and it was working on my tests. Anyway, it’s too late for 1.7.2 that is just released. I am releasing 1.7.3 later this week, and I will fix this for that version. Thanks for reporting.

Thanks for this plugin, man. And I am very impressed that you are already integrating Rich Snippets.
I was going to have to write something myself, but the fact that you are so on top of this and have at least a beta version of Rich Snippets integration gives me confidence that GD Star Rating is the way to go.

Just checking to see if you plan to update the rating HTML to use Rich Snippets, too. I have version 1.7.3 and it looks like the text displayed below the star rating for my post is not in the Rich Snippets format that Google says they like.
Check this post out:
http://knol.google.com/k/google-rich-snippets/google-rich-snippets/32la2chf8l79m/1#Tips_and_tricks
Not sure if code will display properly here but here goes:
Yours:
Rating: 0.0/5 (0 votes cast)
Google wants:
4 stars (based on 55 votes)
Im sure the (0 votes cast) part will be fine as Google will know what that is, but do you think you’ll be putting in the property=”v:rating” attribute? Think its worth it?

Wait for 1.7.4 tonight. Google Rich Snippets using microfortmats is FULLY implemented and tested, and works great. Other version using RDF (property=…) is not working on Google, and their test tool refuses to parse RDF, so this is not supported for now. But I will follow closely what they do.
