Here is new release of GD Star Rating with some very important changes that were needed for improved customization potential. Most of the changes are with the T2 templates and rendering to allow adding filters for all rendering methods.
All rendering methods are refactored, and all parameters for the methods are now in the form of array with parameters as elements of the array. This allowed to add filter functions you can use to override and modify rendering. Each filter will provide the function with template and all the parameters used for rendering so you can use that to modify output the way you want. All avalable filters are in the info files that are included with plugin. Filters are executed before plugin replaces tags with values, so you can do that yourself. I have tested as much as I could all the new rendering methods, but there is a possibility that some things are broken. If you find any problem, report the bug in the tracker, not in the comments.
There are few bug reports last week that I could reproduce and confirm, so it might be that some other plugins are interfering. Once again, please check what exactly you are reporting and how the reproduce the prboble. Reporting simply something is not working and such is not helpfull, and I usually ignore that. Also, people are still reporting things that aren ot bugs but problems with settings without even reading any of the tutorials and other help related posts.
Support for 2.6.x versions of WordPress will be gone with 1.7.0 release. This version is expected in the next 3 weeks.
That’s it for now. If no major bugs are found, regular 1.6.6 release will be available in 7-8 days.

Hi, I wanted to update from gd star rating 1.6.4 to 1.6.5 manually. Delete the gd-star-rating folder and transfered the new version there. Unfortunatley I forgot to deactivate the plugin. So, now the plugin thinks it is 1.6.4, but is 1.6.5. I can delete the folder but it still doesnt update and still shows the hint that there is a newer version.
If I try to go to the gd star menu and use installation – complete deinstallation it doesnt to anything.
What do I have to do to get rid of the plugin ? What tables do I have to remove in the mysql database ?

I would like to use Gdstarrating on a new blog I want to start but I am wondering if I only want registered users to vote, would the others get a message that says “the vote is restricted to registered user only”?
Or this plugin doesn’t support that yet? thanks

I have the same issue as LeCamaleoff. I have a category of CD reviews and that is the only category I would like to have the voting on at the moment. Is there a way to do this? Thanks. It’s a great plugin otherwise, even if I can’t figure out all the goodies it has with it yet.

The same as me, I review episodes of series and only want the vote system on them, some specific categories.
It’s a magnificent plugin but to huge for my short “WordPress” knowledge. Hope someone could help us with that.

I really can’t understand how someone can claim that he read everything on the website in search for something and fails to find it even it’s there and is very obvious. Is the content baddly organized? If there is something I can do to improve on that, please leave the suggestion.

Millan, thanks for those two links. That totally solved my issue. I apologize that I didn’t find them before. I did search through a bunch of links and conducted a search using various “category” phrases to see if I could find something but was unsuccessful. Thanks for the prompt response and the excellent explanations about how to whittle my voting down to one category. It worked like a charm.

I solved the problems too. Thanks for all, great plugin.
But even “English is practically official internet and computer language and that is a fact.†it´s only used by the 28,7% of total web population (due to Internetworldstats.com), followed by Chinese and Spanish. Even that I comprehend 100% you could not offer info in all languages but must comprehend there are other languages and people who don’t understand it perfect as you don’t understand many other webs.

I know you said to report issues in tracker. In tracker it says there are no products available, so I don’t think I can submit a bug.
After updating to this version from 1.6.4, my thumbs rating buttons no longer show up. I can still access the images at /wp-content/plugins/gd-star-rating/thumbs/starrating/thumbs32.png. I can access your CSS file, so I don’t think it is suddenly being blocked.
In the admin panel, settings -> thumbs up/down tab -> the drop-down menus for thumbs set and msie6 are empty. Similarly, graphics -> thumbs shows no installed thumbsets. I have checked to make sure all three default thumbsets are still in the right folder (as with the example listed above).
I’ve tried deactivating the plugin and activating it again. I’ve tried reuploading the thumbsets and the plugin folder.
Using Firebug, I am not setting anything that is setting the background for the .gdt-starrating anchors.
I would greatly appreciate any advice.

Plugin actually supports qTranslate plugin that in order to work, requires strings to be enclosed in translation functions, and all such strings are enclosed for all rendering elements. I have no experience with xLanguage and very little time, and I can’t really test and try every plugin. And since there are some 10 similar plugins, supporting all of them is very, very complicated.
