Even before 1.0.0 version of the plugin was released I have added a feature allowing integration of rating results into RSS feed. But for a long time this only worked with standard rating results. Now, with release of 1.5.6 this is finally expanded.
Rating integration is controlled by templates (as everything else), and you can set few more parameters to format the display. RSS is not very flexible when the formating of text is concerned so not much can be done in that department. But still template can contain some of the HTML tags that can be safely used by most modern RSS readers. Also, you can include image to show the rating for both stars and thumbs.
Also, you can add a small button/image with link back to this website if you want, as a way of promoting this plugin. Other settings include selection of the data source you want to use: standard ratings, multi ratings or thumbs ratings. Also, you need to select stars set and thumbs set that will be used to render images, rating header and rating template. Since thumbs and stars don’t have all same properties, there are two templates to choose from, one for stars and the other for thumbs. As always, you can make your own templates.
There are few issues with multi ratings because you can use more than one set for a post. But that will complicate matters displaying all that, so plugin will choose multi rating results with most votes for the post.
As you can see this is very simple to do and doesn’t require any more modifications, but only to modify the settings on the image above. At this point there are few issues I will try to deal with even before 1.5.6 is released next week. One of the issues is that there are some problems with WordPress filters used to prepare post contents for RSS feed and in some cases ratings added are cut off from the RSS item. Anyway, solution will be found soon.
So, try how this works with standard ratings that are available in current version(s), and wait for 1.5.6 that will allow use of thumbs and multi ratings data.
