Settings Explained Part 3.

Thumbnail for Settings Explained Part 3.

Finally, I have managed to find enough time to write the third post about settings. First, I will write short update on some of the changes done for the settings. As you know some of them are removed and updated.

1. Updates

First of all, I have removed IE6 PNG Fix support, so the option for that is gone.  Also, I have added additional settings for MS IE6 specific stars sets to use as a solution to a transparency issue. So, if the plugin detects IE6 browser, it will use this set insead of the main one. Also, I have improved logging of IP adresses so now you can allow saving votes from both user and visitors coming from same IP address. This is added for Post & Pages and Comments tabs.

2. Comments

I will not write much about these settings. Most of them are exactly the same as the settings for Posts & Pages. Main difference is that comments can be auto inserted for post and / or pages. So there are less settings in that area. Also, there are some of the settings for review comment missing because they can’t be implemented the same way.

Multis Tab

3. Multis

Right now multi rating depends on some of the settings from Posts & Pages panel. So some of the settings on this tab are missing. At some point I will update this. Also, right now multi ratings are not inserted automatically, and at one point that will be added, but it will not be controled by simple settings on this tab, but from Multi ratings panel or something similar.

The main new option is Submit Button. Multi rating set has a button used to submit the votes once the user rates all the elements. You can change the text on the button. And also you can disable the button, and the ratings will be submited automatically once all the elements are rated.

Statistics Tab

4. Statistics

This panel right now has settings for trend calculations and for bayesian estimate mean. Trend is calculated over a period of last day or few days compared to a period of more dyas before the calculation period. Bayesian estimate mean is used for the imporved calculation formula that is more precise than standard average. This calculation is more precise when you have more votes already saved. More details on this can be found on the WikiAnswers.

5. Preview

This tab doesn’t have any settings, but you can use it to review all the images sets currently imported in the system.

Well, that’s it for now. Hopefully more tutorials and customization posts will follow soon.

How do you enter a multi-review block direct into the theme loop so you display it on the front page?

What kind of rating formula do you use on this website?
Do you use a Bayesian estimate or just the standard average?
What kind of rating formula would you recommend?

    Thank you for your Reply.
