Few weeks back I started to work on new plugin that will include various tools and tweaks I need for more efficient work with WordPress. This plugin has seen few versions already, and is called GD Press Tools. Plugin is far for complete and production ready, but I plan to put much more work into it in the next few months, and to include as many tweaks I can.
Latest version 0.4.0 contains following tools and tweaks:
- integration into posts and pages edit grid and adding post ID, sticky and revisions columns. Revisions column shows the number of revisions post or page has, and a delete button so you can delete all this revisions.
- option to set the number of posts displayed in the posts and pages edit grid. Default value is 15, but you can set it to whatever you want.
- tool that can change the username of your account. WordPress doesn’t allow this, but it’s nice to be able to change default ‘admin’ username to something else without need to create new account because of that.
- database status tool showing the tables used, their size, overhead and status. This tool can clean the overhead and repair broken tables.
- tool to delete all revisions for all published posts at once.
- control of the revisions saving
- number of functions that can be used by any other plugin
I plan to add database and file backup tool, expanding of the media grid and more. Plugin will soon get new home website, where I will include much more info.
What I would like from you is to leave your comments about current plugin features, and also suggestions on the features I should include. I really want to add as many useful tweaks and features as I can.

Hi, great plugin so far.
Useful thing that could be added:
- Tweaks for the plugins management page (hide/show active, uptodate)
- Management of the administration menu, especially the links added by other plugins.

any chance of adding security for a blog?some of the security plugins are really difficult to understand i wish it was simple few options (or recommended config) to stop brute force attacks and hacks

If you have some specif security issue, I will look into adding the solution. One of the security issues with default admin username is solved, and you can change admin username to something else

Not sure if it’s included already, I know it is in the widget…but the feature of being able to only add the ratings to certain categories would be a great advantage for me.
