How do we import data from other ratings plugins? For example, if I import wp-ratings that uses a 5-star system, will I end up with 5-star results in this?

You need to set GD Star Rating to 5 star rating (settings panel), and after importing from WP-Ratings everything should be fine. Also, later you can change rating to 10 stars and plugin will recalculate all rating values. Whenever you change number of stars, values will be recalculated.

is it possible to show the “top 10″ posts on a page or as the home page?

Yes. There are few ways to do it, and it has bean discussed on the old wp.gdragon.info blog, in the user guid and in the forum.

I’ve look in the blog, in the guide and the forum. I don’t see any explanation on how to do it. In fact, in the forum you say it cant be done using the plugin:

Simplest way is to use the shortcode. There is a button in tinymce editor for posts with a star that is used to insert shortcode, and it has a bunch of options.

Oh, just to explain myself a little more, I don’t mean in a widget, I mean having a page that will have the top 10 posts (by rating) on it.

I understand, and as I said you can add lists to posts also, user guide is the best place to start because it contains info about shortcodes and manual functions for that.

YIKES. Ok, I have no idea where to begin. Is there like a loop like the WordPress templates? How about throwing some examples in there for people who can modify code once they see how it works, but can’t write stuff from scratch. Can I take the widget code and put it in a page and modify from there?

I said it before, start with shortcodes, it works and doesn’t require any code modification:

Hi,
I would like to put the rating in an other place in the article. Like just after the key words, instead of before. Can you tell me how I can do this?
Thank you,
Regards

This is explained in the user guide. You can disable auto insert of rating block, and use shortcode or php function to add it wherever you want it.

Thank’s I could change the position of the rating block.
But I have one more question, that should be simple but I can’t find the solution.
The problem is that I cannot make the Header of the rating block appears. Even if the check box is checked. Any Idea? (I don’t use the CSS options).
regards,
Benoit

Auto insert of standard rating block is always at the bottom. If you want that to change, you need to add it manually using shortcodes or php manual functions.
For what type of rating header is not displayed? I had no problems with that so far.

I found the mistake.
Is that because in the Administration Setting, 2 sections are displayed in all pages (sections about “Message” and “Message d’attente pour les votes”). Even If theses two paragraphs are displayed they are not active.
So to display the Header message in the Evalation of the pages/article, I had to checked the box “Afficher la configuration du placement de l’évaluation.”, and go to the page “Articles et Pages” (in the administration) to define the real header message.
I hope that could help other users…
Now, every things work well. http://www.chroniquemusicale.com
Many thanks for your great job,
Benoit
